My Fav Size-Inclusize Mom Jeans!

I remember that feeling like it was yesterday. Sitting in the changing room, stacks upon stacks of clothes piled separately on the bench: one on the left was for clothes that fit and one on the right for the stuff I just couldn’t squeeze into. 9 times out of 10 the pile to the right was a heaping mound compared to the other. This was my experience with trying on clothes when I was growing up. I think it was for a lot of us that were born with more curves than we knew what to do with. As I got older I continued to see the same pattern. Grab a ton of cute clothes. Try them all on. Leave with a broken heart. Tear marks left a path through my foundation because yet again most of the stuff didn’t fit.

I’m 24 years old and I can honestly say this is the first year that I’ve EVER felt confident enough to look great and feel good about the clothes on my body. And I want to share that feeling with as many women, mothers, curvy, short, and everyone in between as I can. I haven’t struggled with any article of clothing as much as I have with finding the right pair of denim. There’s nothing like a great pair of jeans! Especially when you’re postpartum and just needing to get into the groove of putting on clothing that isn’t yoga pants. So here are my favorites! And by all means if you know of any others, feel free to put them in the comments!

Click on the headings of each pair of jeans for the direct link to the store!

I wanted to start this off by saying that I’m 5’4″ and weigh about 250 so I put the size in the captions below each picture so you have something to compare your size to! 🙂

1. American Eagle “Mom Jeans”

These jeans are by far the cutest and give you that look of “mom jean” that I think a lot of us are going for not only in pictures but for dinner or going out on the town. I like to pull them all the way up to my natural waistline and then tuck a part of my shirt in at my left or right side of my hips. I think it really gives you an hourglass shape and for me it made me realize that you didn’t have to be a stick figure to achieve that same look that you see in magazines and on social media. With a price tag of $49.95 (currently on sale right now though!) you better get yourself a pair because they’re worth it!

2. Universal Thread (Target)

Now, for this one I will be giving you a few different jeans to choose from because honestly I think you need to buy every style of jeans from this brand. I own probably 8 pairs. They’re affordable, comfortable and they fit in all the right places. Because of the variety of colors, size, fits, etc. that they offer, you really can’t go wrong. You’ll notice the sizes are a bit different. I think it’s really helpful to go to Target in person to try a couple pairs on before buying online.

The black jeans fit perfectly at a size 18 while the distressed jeans below seemed to fit great at a size 16. I really fluctuate between the two so if you’re the same way then I suggest trying them on in person. If you are confident on your size then go ahead and order them online! If all else fails, you can return them if they don’t fit and it gives you a reason to go to Target. 😉 it’s a win-win. I love wearing these jeans for any occasion really, they’re stylish enough to wear out on a date but comfy enough to go grocery shopping and run errands in. Pleaseeee check out the site and find yourself a pair. You won’t regret it!

3. Crown & Ivy Jeans (Belk)

These jeans were some of the first that I bought when I started wearing jeans again. I just happened to be in a Belk and noticed that they carried plus-size jeans (this was before I knew of Target or AE having them). This brand will usually run you anywhere between $65-$75 but they’re almost always on sale. Right now they’re only $35 a pair and I’m honestly probably going to buy some when I’m finished writing this!

They’re comfy but not too much to where you lose the shape and I’m obsessed with the wash and the overall quality of them. I bought mine a few months ago so I’m not sure if they still carry the exact ones, but they do have some that are similar in style on their website! The link in the heading will take you right to their plus sizes, but for a more diverse search just check out everything the brand has to offer! You never know what else you’ll come across!

4. Maternity Inset Panel Skinny Crop Jeans By Isabel Maternity (Target)

So you might be thinking, uhhh okay I’m not pregnant what’s with the maternity jeans? And my answer would be, WHO CARES!? Maternity is just a fancy word for stretchy and comfortable. I still wears there’s and I’m 18 months PP. For those of us out there that are freshly postpartum and want to feel like a human being again after a 9 month stint of nothing but dresses and PJs, maternity jeans are where it’s at! These were my first “jeans” right after having Paisley and the confidence they gave me was irreplaceable.

They’re stretchy, give you a great shape and don’t make your midsection feel like you’re trying to stuff yourself into sausage casing. You can’t beat the price ($29.99) or the comfort! They also carry a variety of maternity jeans and other clothing items so make sure you do some exploring, you might find other goodies along the way!

5. Good Legs (Good American)

I couldn’t find my exact pair on their website, but the link will take you to a pair that are almost identical!

I’ll start this one off by saying these jeans are expensive. In my opinion. I paid $100 for my pair and that was on SALE. They typically run about $120-$170. But, they are great jeans. The material is soft, stretchy and comfortable. Everything you’re wanting in curvy,  mom jeans. And if I throw on some Spanx and a pair of heels, I feel like absolute fireeeee.

I would say if you can afford them, then take the time to scroll through their website and buy a pair! You get what you pay for. Splurging on yourself every once in a while is never a bad thing, especially when it comes to comfort and confidence. My personal suggestion is to wait till they go on sale, but make sure you sign up for their emails/follow them on Instagram because they sell fast!

p.s. Since Khloe Kardashian was just pregnant (and she’s the cofounder), she made sure to add a maternity line so that’s definitely something to look into as well!

6. AE Ne(X)t Level Super High-Waisted Jegging (American Eagle)

These jeans are just bomb. Hands down. I ordered them online during Black Friday and really wasn’t sure what to expect. I was so happy with the fit, the look and just the comfort when I’m wearing them that I honestly want another pair! Of course they’re on sale right now too (gotta love those Christmas shopping sales). Only $37.46 a pair! I love pulling them up to my natural waistline like I did in the picture below and then wearing a shirt that can sit right at the top so that aesthetically it gives you such an amazing shape.

Overall, my biggest advice to you is to let go of your fear! Some stuff isn’t going to fit you, but in this day and age a lot of it will. Like, a lot a lot of it. It’s all about finding the right fit, the right brand and the right size. Don’t be afraid of numbers and don’t let them ever define you. I’m as gorgeous in a size 20 as much as I am in a size 16. Same goes for you!

There are so many great companies out there offering size inclusive clothes especially the ones I mentioned above so take the time and really do your research. The days of crying in the changing room are long gone. Everyday there are new companies out there serving the curvy, mom, plus-size, short community (I realize there are others that fall in between and outside of this as well) and it’s freaking awesome!

If you ever need inspiration or have more questions about the clothes that I wear find me on Instagram @mschloemeghan and send me a message. Lets connect!

Some other companies that I’ve heard good things about but that I haven’t personally tried are

Fashion Nova Curve

Forever 21 Plus

Venus

Walmart Time & Tru

Dia

So get out there (or stay in bed and order online because let’s face it, mom life) and get yourself some jeans girl!

You earned it. Happy Shopping!
